Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing internal panels. Fan blades and metal edges can be sharp.
Steps to resolve E6:
- Listen for fan operation: With the door closed and unit powered (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan running. If silent or noisy, suspect a fan issue.
- Access the fan: Remove shelves and the internal rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
- Check for ice or obstruction: Look for ice buildup or foreign objects blocking the fan. Defrost the unit fully if ice is present and ensure the drain is clear.
- Inspect wiring: Check the fan motor connector and wiring harness for loose plugs or damaged insulation.
- Test fan motor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan and measure resistance across the motor terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you have a suitable low-voltage DC supply (for DC fans), you can bench-test the motor briefly.
- Replace the fan motor: If faulty, install a Hoover-compatible evaporator fan motor. Transfer the fan blade if it is separate, and ensure it spins freely without rubbing.
- Check PCB if needed: If a known-good fan does not run and E6 persists, the main control board's fan output may be defective and require replacement.
