Possible Causes

Failed magnetic reed switch or mechanical door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken switch wiring in door frame, Faulty input on main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the appliance before removing trims or accessing wiring around the door frame.

Steps to resolve E9:

  • Check door operation: Open and close the door while observing the interior light and fan. If they do not change state, suspect the door switch.
  • Locate the door switch: On many Hoover wine coolers, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame, with a magnet in the door. Others use a visible plunger switch.
  • Inspect magnet and alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and the magnet (if used) is present and aligned with the switch location. Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging.
  • Test the switch: With the unit unplugged, access the switch from inside the cabinet frame or behind the front trim. Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while opening/closing the door or moving a magnet near the reed switch. Replace if it does not change state.
  • Check wiring: Look for pinched or broken wires where they pass through the cabinet.
  • Replace faulty switch: Install a Hoover-compatible door switch or reed sensor. Secure it firmly and verify that the door closes without interference.
  • PCB input check: If a new switch does not clear E9, the main PCB door input may be faulty and require board replacement.
