• 3. Inspect the fan: Check if the blades spin freely by hand. Remove any ice buildup, labels, or wiring that may be contacting the blades. If there is heavy ice, defrost the unit fully.
• 4. Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated and that wires are not cut or pinched.
• 5. Test the fan motor (advanced): With the fan disconnected and the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the fan motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. For DC fans, verify correct voltage from the control board when the unit is running (requires powering the unit and extreme caution).
• 6. Replace the fan motor if defective: Install a new Insignia evaporator fan motor assembly, transferring any brackets or grommets from the old motor. Ensure the fan spins freely and is centered in the shroud.
• 7. Consider the control board: If the fan motor is good but never receives power, the main control board fan driver may be faulty and require replacement.
