Possible Causes

Cabinet temperature above sensor range due to loss of cooling, Open cabinet thermistor, Disconnected sensor harness, Failed main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing panels or handling wiring.

Steps to address 'Hi' reading:

  • 1. Confirm environment: Ensure the cooler is not installed in a very hot location (e.g., garage in summer) beyond its rated ambient temperature. Extreme ambient heat can contribute but should not alone cause 'Hi' if cooling is functional.
  • 2. Inspect the cabinet thermistor: Remove the interior sensor cover and verify the thermistor is present and connected. Look for broken wires or a missing sensor.
  • 3. Check wiring to control board: Access the main control board and ensure the thermistor connector is fully seated and not corroded.
  • 4. Test the thermistor (advanced): With the unit unplugged, measure resistance across the thermistor leads. An infinite reading indicates an open sensor.
  • 5. Replace the thermistor if open or missing: Install a new Insignia cabinet temperature sensor and secure it properly.
  • 6. Evaluate cooling system: If the sensor is good but the interior is hot and 'Hi' remains, follow the H1 steps to check compressor, fans, and sealed system. If those are functional, the main control board may be defective and require replacement.

Note: 'Hi' is both a temperature indication and a warning that wine is not being stored at a safe temperature.
