Possible Causes
Normal defrost cycle active, Control board stuck in defrost, Faulty defrost sensor or control relay
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On some Ivation compressor-based wine coolers, dF simply indicates that the automatic defrost cycle is running and is not a fault.
Steps:
- Wait 20–30 minutes: If dF clears on its own and cooling resumes, no repair is needed.
- Check for excessive frost: If dF remains and the evaporator is heavily iced, unplug the unit and allow it to fully defrost. Then restart and observe.
- Inspect defrost sensor and wiring: If dF persists, follow the E4 procedure to check the defrost sensor and wiring.
If the unit never exits dF and does not cool, the control board defrost circuit may be stuck and the Ivation main control board may need replacement.
