Possible Causes

Failed evaporator thermistor, Thermistor dislodged from evaporator coil, Broken thermistor wiring harness, Faulty connector on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety Warning: Disconnect the Ivation wine cooler from power before opening any panels. Sharp metal edges may be present; wear cut-resistant gloves.

Steps to troubleshoot:

  • Reset the unit: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E2 reappears, proceed.
  • Access the evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the inner rear panel to expose the evaporator (cooling fins) on compressor-based models, or the cooling plate on thermoelectric models.
  • Locate the evaporator thermistor: Look for a small probe clipped or taped to the evaporator fins or cooling plate, with two thin wires leading to the control board.
  • Check physical placement: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface. If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip so it makes good thermal contact.
  • Inspect wiring and connectors: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Check for cuts, pinches, or loose plugs. Reseat the connector on the board.
  • Test the sensor: With a multimeter, measure resistance at room temperature and compare to Ivation’s specifications. An open or shorted reading indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace if defective: Install a new Ivation evaporator temperature sensor / thermistor, routing the wires as originally installed and securing the probe to the evaporator.
  • Reassemble and test: Reinstall panels, restore power, and verify that the E2 code clears and the unit cools normally.

Note: If the sensor is good but E2 persists, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require replacement.
