Possible Causes
Failed compartment thermistor, Loose sensor connection at user interface or control board, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty user interface board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing any trim or control panels.
How to troubleshoot:
- Verify with a thermometer: Place an accurate appliance thermometer inside the cooler and compare to the display. If E3 is present and readings are far off, continue.
- Access the sensor: On many JennAir wine coolers, the display/compartment sensor is behind the interior liner or near the air return grille. Remove the necessary trim or panel to expose it.
- Inspect the sensor and wiring: Check for corrosion at the connector, broken wires, or a sensor that has pulled out of its mounting clip. Reseat the connector firmly.
- Test resistance: With power off, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to JennAir's thermistor chart. Replace if open, shorted, or significantly out of range.
- Check user interface connections: Remove the front control panel and verify the ribbon cable or harness from the sensor/control board to the display is fully seated and not damaged.
- Replace parts as needed: If the sensor tests bad, replace it. If the sensor is good but E3 persists, the user interface or main control board may need replacement.
