Possible Causes

Corrupted control board firmware, Failed microcontroller on main PCB, Power surge damage to control board, Loose harness between user interface and main board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing any electronic boards.

Steps:

  • Power cycle: Disconnect power for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Restore power and check if E8 clears.
  • Check harness connections: Remove the control panel and rear access panel. Inspect the wiring harness between the user interface board and main control board. Reseat all connectors.
  • Inspect for damage: Look for burn marks, swollen components, or corrosion on the main control board. Any visible damage indicates the board should be replaced.
  • Surge protection: If E8 followed a storm or outage, consider installing a surge protector for future protection.
  • Board replacement: If E8 persists after reseating connectors and power cycling, replace the main control board with the correct JennAir OEM part. Transfer any jumpers or programming plugs as instructed in the service documentation.

Note: Board replacement and programming are best handled by a JennAir-authorized technician.
