Possible Causes
Shorted temperature sensor, Misplaced thermistor not sensing cabinet air, Stuck compressor relay on control board, Incorrect control calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug before accessing sensors or the control board.
Steps:
- Verify with thermometer: Place a thermometer inside and compare to the setpoint. If actual temperature is much lower, proceed.
- Inspect thermistor placement: Ensure the sensor is not touching the evaporator coil directly unless designed to; it should sense cabinet air.
- Test thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to spec. Replace if readings indicate a much warmer temperature than actual (causing overcooling).
- Check control board: If the compressor runs continuously even when the setpoint is reached and sensors are good, the compressor relay may be stuck and the board should be replaced.
