Possible Causes
Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor wire damaged by ice buildup or rubbing on evaporator fins, Loose or corroded connector at main control board, Faulty main control board sensor circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components. Sharp metal edges near the evaporator can cause injury; wear cut-resistant gloves.
- Defrost the unit: Power off and leave the door open for several hours to melt any heavy ice on the evaporator. Place towels to catch water.
- Access evaporator area: Remove the interior rear panel inside the wine cooler (usually held by Phillips screws) to expose the evaporator coil and sensor.
- Locate the sensor: The evaporator sensor is typically clipped to the evaporator tubing or mounted in a small well near the coil with two wires leading to the control board.
- Inspect for damage: Look for broken insulation, corrosion, or a sensor that has come loose from the coil. Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface.
- Test and replace: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. If it reads open, shorted, or far outside the expected range, replace it with a Kismile evaporator temperature sensor (NTC). Clip or tape the new sensor securely to the coil as originally installed.
- Reconnect and test: Reassemble the rear panel, restore power, and verify that the E2 code clears. If not, the main control board may need replacement.
