Possible Causes

Overheated compressor due to poor ventilation, Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Faulty compressor overload protector, Blocked condenser coil causing high pressure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler. Do not bypass safety devices like overload protectors.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the Kismile wine cooler (typically at least 2–4 inches at sides and back). Remove any items blocking the rear grille.
  • Clean condenser: Pull the unit away from the wall and vacuum dust from the condenser coil and fan area at the back or bottom. Use a soft brush to avoid bending fins.
  • Inspect compressor components: Remove the rear lower access panel. Locate the compressor, start relay/PTC, and overload protector on the compressor terminals.
  • Check for burn marks or rattling: Gently shake the start relay; if it rattles or shows burn marks, it may be defective.
  • Replace start device: Install a compatible Kismile compressor start relay and overload protector kit if the original is suspect. Match the part to the compressor model number.
  • Allow cooling time: If the compressor was very hot, let it cool for 30–60 minutes before restoring power.
  • Test operation: Plug the unit back in and monitor. If E5 persists and the compressor hums then clicks off, the compressor itself may be failing and requires professional service.
