E17 indicates that the cooling system is not achieving expected performance.

• Step 1 – Clean condenser: Thoroughly vacuum and brush the condenser coil and ensure the condenser fan operates correctly.
• Step 2 – Check door sealing: Inspect the door gasket for gaps, tears, or warping. Replace if it does not seal tightly all around.
• Step 3 – Load and ventilation: Avoid overloading the cabinet and ensure air can circulate around bottles. Verify installation clearances.
• Step 4 – Monitor temperatures: After cleaning and adjustments, allow 24 hours and measure internal temperature with an accurate thermometer.
• Step 5 – Call a technician: If the compressor runs nearly nonstop and the unit still cannot reach set temperature, a sealed system issue (leak, restriction, weak compressor) is likely. Contact a KitchenAid-authorized service provider.
