Possible Causes
Failed touch control panel, Moisture intrusion behind UI, Loose ribbon cable between UI and main board, Faulty UI input circuit on main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the door trim or control panel. Glass doors can be heavy; support them properly.
E9 is typically associated with the user interface or keypad not communicating correctly.
- Step 1 – Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then reconnect. If E9 returns immediately when using the controls, continue.
- Step 2 – Inspect control panel: Check for condensation or liquid spills around the touch controls. Wipe dry and allow the area to air-dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Access UI connections: Remove the interior trim or front control panel bezel to access the user interface board. Carefully disconnect and reconnect the ribbon cable between the UI and main control board.
- Step 4 – Check for damage: Look for corrosion on the ribbon contacts or cracks in the UI board. If present, the UI assembly should be replaced.
- Step 5 – Replace UI or board: If reseating cables does not resolve E9, replace the user interface assembly. If a new UI does not fix the issue, the main control board UI input may be defective and require replacement by a technician.
