Possible Causes
Defective defrost heater, Failed defrost thermostat, Door not sealing allowing moist air in, Blocked air vents causing localized freezing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before defrosting. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.
- Step 1 – Manual defrost: Empty the cooler, unplug it, and leave the door open for 24 hours to melt all ice. Place towels to catch water.
- Step 2 – Check door seal: After defrosting, inspect and correct any gasket issues to prevent warm, moist air infiltration.
- Step 3 – Monitor: If frost returns within a week, the automatic defrost system may be failing. Test and replace the defrost heater and thermostat as needed (see E14).
