Possible Causes
New appliance off-gassing, Spilled wine or food residue, Mold or mildew on interior surfaces, Contaminated drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning. Ensure good ventilation while using cleaners.
- Step 1 – Initial airing: For new units, run the cooler empty for several days with the door closed, then open and air out.
- Step 2 – Deep clean interior: Remove all bottles and shelves. Clean interior surfaces with a solution of mild detergent and warm water, followed by a rinse with a baking soda solution (1–2 tablespoons per quart of water).
- Step 3 – Clean drain pan: Access the rear and clean the condensate drain pan above the compressor, which can harbor odors.
- Step 4 – Dry thoroughly: Leave the door open for several hours to dry completely before restocking.
