Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display panel and main board, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed touchpad or display PCB, Faulty main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Unplug the cooler before opening the control panel.

Steps:

  • Access the display panel: Remove the screws around the front control panel or door trim (depending on model). Carefully pull the panel forward.
  • Inspect ribbon cable: Check the flat ribbon or wire harness connecting the display to the main board. Ensure it is fully inserted and not kinked or torn.
  • Dry moisture: If you see condensation or liquid inside the panel, gently dry the area with a soft cloth and allow it to air dry completely before reassembly.
  • Check for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors. Clean lightly with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
  • Re-seat connectors: Unplug and re-plug the ribbon cable at both ends to ensure good contact.
  • Replace if needed: If E6 persists and buttons remain unresponsive, replace the Koolatron display/control panel assembly. If a new panel does not resolve the issue, the main control board is likely faulty.
