Possible Causes
One of the zone sensors out of range, Incorrect sensor installed or swapped between zones, Loose sensor connector, Control board calibration fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Disconnect power before working on sensors or the control board.
How to proceed:
- Identify zones: On dual-zone Koolatron wine coolers, there is typically a separate sensor for the upper and lower compartments.
- Locate both sensors: Find the probes in each zone (usually on the rear or side walls). Trace their wires to the rear of the unit.
- Check for swapped connectors: At the control board, verify that each sensor is plugged into the correct labeled connector (e.g., "UPPER" vs "LOWER"). Correct any mix-ups.
- Measure resistance: With a multimeter, compare the resistance of both sensors at the same ambient temperature. They should be similar if they are the same part number. A large difference indicates a bad sensor.
- Replace faulty sensor: Install a new Koolatron zone temperature sensor for the affected compartment.
- Board replacement: If both sensors test good and are correctly connected, the main control board may have a calibration or ADC fault and should be replaced.
