Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Misaligned or damaged door switch, Broken magnet in door (for magnetic reed switch models), Faulty door switch wiring to PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Most checks can be done with power on, but unplug the unit before removing panels or working on wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Check for obstructions: Ensure shelves or bottles are not preventing the door from closing fully. Verify the gasket is seated correctly all around.
- 2. Inspect door switch: Locate the door switch (mechanical plunger or magnetic reed) usually at the top or side of the opening. Press it manually; the interior light should turn on/off accordingly.
- 3. Test continuity: With power off, remove the switch and test it with a multimeter. It should open and close electrically when pressed/released. Replace if it does not change state.
- 4. Check magnet (if reed switch): On some La Sommeliere models, a magnet in the door frame activates a reed switch in the cabinet. Ensure the magnet is present and aligned; replace the door trim or magnet if missing.
- 5. Replace faulty switch: Install a new La Sommeliere door switch assembly if the original is defective. Reconnect wiring securely.
- 6. Test operation: Restore power and confirm that the dE indication clears when the door is closed and that the light and cooling behave normally.
