Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC probe, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Corroded or loose sensor connector on PCB, Damaged wiring harness between sensor and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the appliance from power before opening any panels. Sharp metal edges may be present around the evaporator area.

Diagnostic and repair steps:

  • 1. Access the evaporator area: Remove internal shelves and the rear inner plastic cover. On many La Sommeliere models, the evaporator is behind this panel with the fan.
  • 2. Identify the evaporator sensor: Look for a small probe clipped or taped to the evaporator tubing or fins, usually wrapped in foil or insulation, with two wires leading to the main PCB.
  • 3. Check mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface. If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip so it has good thermal contact.
  • 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor wires to the control board. Look for cuts, pinched sections, or corrosion at the connector. Clean and reseat the connector.
  • 5. Measure resistance: With a multimeter, measure the sensor resistance at a known temperature (e.g., room temperature). Compare to typical NTC values (5k–10kΩ at 25°C). Infinite or near-zero resistance indicates a failed sensor.
  • 6. Replace if faulty: Order a compatible La Sommeliere evaporator NTC sensor. Remove the old sensor, route the new one along the same path, secure it to the evaporator, and connect it to the PCB.
  • 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the evaporator cover, restore power, clear the error (if needed by power cycling), and monitor operation for several hours.

Note: If the sensor tests correctly but E2 persists, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and require professional evaluation.
