Possible Causes
Failed Peltier module, Inoperative heat sink fan, Loose Peltier wiring, Overheated heat sink due to dust or blockage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before opening the rear panel. Peltier modules and heat sinks can be hot.
Steps:
- 1. Access cooling module: Remove the rear panel to expose the Peltier module, heat sink, and fan assembly.
- 2. Inspect fan: Check if the fan spins freely and is not clogged with dust. Clean with a soft brush and compressed air. If the fan does not run when powered, replace it with a compatible La Sommeliere heat sink fan.
- 3. Check Peltier connections: Ensure the Peltier module wires are firmly connected to the control board and not burnt or discolored.
- 4. Test Peltier module: With the unit powered (only if you are competent), measure DC voltage at the Peltier terminals. If correct voltage is present but no temperature difference develops across the module, the Peltier is likely faulty.
- 5. Replace Peltier module: Remove the clamping frame or screws, carefully separate the module from the heat sinks, clean old thermal compound, apply new thermal paste, and install a new La Sommeliere Peltier cooling module.
- 6. Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, restore power, and verify that F1 clears and that the unit cools.
Note: Handle Peltier modules gently; they are brittle and can crack if overtightened.
