Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain hole, Disconnected drain tube, Excessive door opening causing condensation, Cracked internal drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside. Use towels to absorb water and prevent slipping.
Steps:
- 1. Locate drain hole: Inside the cabinet, usually at the rear near the bottom, find the small drain hole that leads to the external drain pan.
- 2. Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner, cotton swab, or flexible plastic rod to gently clear any debris or mold from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- 3. Flush with warm water: Using a syringe or small squeeze bottle, flush a small amount of warm water through the drain to ensure it flows freely to the pan.
- 4. Check external drain tube and pan: From the rear, locate the drain tube and pan above the compressor. Ensure the tube is connected and not kinked. Clean the pan of any sludge or mold.
- 5. Dry interior: Wipe up any standing water inside the cabinet and allow it to dry before restocking.
Note: Persistent leaks after clearing the drain may indicate a cracked liner or pan, which may require professional repair or replacement.
