Possible Causes
New plastic components off-gassing, Mold or bacteria growth, Spilled wine or liquids inside cabinet, Contaminated drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before deep cleaning. Ensure good ventilation while cleaning.
Steps:
- 1. Initial airing: For new units, run the cooler empty for several days with the door slightly ajar (if possible) to allow odors to dissipate.
- 2. Deep clean interior: Remove shelves and racks. Clean all surfaces with a solution of baking soda and warm water, then rinse and dry.
- 3. Clean drain pan: Access the rear drain pan above the compressor and clean out any stagnant water or mold.
- 4. Remove spills: If wine or other liquids have spilled, clean thoroughly under shelves and in corners.
- 5. Odor absorbers: Place an open box of baking soda or activated charcoal inside to absorb residual odors.
