Possible Causes
Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Disconnect power before removing interior panels or touching wiring.
E1 usually points to a problem with the evaporator temperature sensor that monitors coil temperature for defrost and cooling control.
- 1. Access the evaporator area:
- Remove shelves and the rear interior panel inside the affected zone.
- Locate the small sensor clipped or taped to the evaporator coil.
- 2. Check sensor placement:
- Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator coil and not hanging loose.
- If it has fallen off, reattach it using aluminum tape or the original clip.
- 3. Inspect wiring:
- Look for cracked insulation, pinched wires, or corroded connectors between the sensor and the control board.
- 4. Test sensor resistance:
- Unplug the unit and disconnect the sensor.
- Measure resistance with a multimeter; compare to the cabinet sensor if they are the same type.
- Open or shorted readings indicate a bad sensor.
- 5. Replace the evaporator sensor if faulty:
- Install a new Lanbo evaporator temperature sensor (NTC) and secure it tightly to the coil.
- 6. If sensor and wiring are good:
- The main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may need replacement by a technician.
