Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Dirty condenser coils, Failed condenser fan motor, Weak compressor start relay or PTC, Overheated compressor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Warning: The compressor and condenser area can be hot. Unplug the unit and allow it to cool before touching components.

E5 can indicate that the compressor is overheating or drawing excessive current.

  • 1. Check ventilation:
    • Ensure the Lanbo wine cooler has proper clearance around the sides, back, and top as specified in the manual.
    • Move it away from heat sources (ovens, direct sunlight).
  • 2. Clean condenser coils:
    • Unplug the unit.
    • Remove the lower rear or front grille to access the condenser.
    • Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust from the coils.
  • 3. Verify condenser fan operation:
    • Plug the unit back in and observe the fan near the compressor.
    • If the compressor runs but the fan does not, the condenser fan motor may be bad.
  • 4. Inspect compressor start components:
    • Unplug the unit again.
    • Remove the start relay/PTC and overload protector from the compressor terminals.
    • Check for burn marks, rattling pieces, or melted plastic.
  • 5. Replace failed parts:
    • Install a new Lanbo condenser fan motor if the fan is not running.
    • Replace the compressor start relay/PTC and overload if they appear damaged or test faulty.
  • 6. If E5 persists and compressor is extremely hot or noisy:
    • The compressor itself may be failing and will require a sealed-system repair by a licensed refrigeration technician.
