Possible Causes
Aged or brittle gasket material, Physical damage from bottles or cleaning tools, Improper installation of replacement gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before replacing the gasket to avoid the door light staying on during the procedure.
Steps:
- 1. Inspect entire gasket: Run your hand around the perimeter to feel for gaps or tears.
- 2. Order correct gasket: Use the full LG model number to obtain the exact replacement gasket.
- 3. Remove old gasket: Gently pull the gasket out of its retaining channel or remove screws/clips if used.
- 4. Install new gasket: Press the new gasket evenly into the channel, ensuring corners are fully seated. If screwed, start with corners then sides.
- 5. Warm and form: Close the door and use a hair dryer on low to gently warm the gasket, allowing it to conform to the frame. Do not overheat.
- 6. Check seal: Use the paper test around the door to confirm a uniform seal.
