Possible Causes
Faulty magnetic reed door switch, Misaligned door magnet, Broken or loose door switch wiring, Defective main control input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing trim or switch assemblies.
How to fix:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure nothing is blocking the door. Verify the door is level and aligned with the cabinet.
- 2. Inspect gasket and hinges: A warped gasket or sagging door can prevent the magnet from aligning with the reed switch. Adjust hinges or replace gasket if needed.
- 3. Locate door switch: On many LG wine coolers, the door switch is a small magnetic reed sensor embedded in the cabinet frame near the top or side.
- 4. Test switch operation: With the unit unplugged, access the switch wiring and test continuity while placing a magnet near the sensor. The circuit should open and close as the magnet moves.
- 5. Check magnet: Ensure the magnet in the door frame is present and not loose. Replace if missing or weak.
- 6. Replace faulty parts: If the reed switch does not change state with a magnet, replace the door switch assembly. If the switch works but the board still shows dE, the control input may be faulty and the main PCB may need replacement.
