Diagnostic procedure:

• 1. Listen for fan operation: With the door closed and unit running (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan. If silent, proceed to inspection.
• 2. Access fan: Remove interior rear panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
• 3. Check for obstructions: Look for ice buildup around the fan shroud or foreign objects blocking the blade. Defrost any ice with the unit unplugged.
• 4. Spin test: Gently spin the fan blade by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding. If seized or noisy, replace the fan motor assembly.
• 5. Electrical test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the fan motor and measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
• 6. Verify voltage (advanced): If comfortable and using proper safety precautions, plug in and carefully measure voltage at the fan connector when the compressor is running. If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the motor. If no voltage, suspect the main PCB.
• 7. Replace parts as needed: Install a new LG evaporator fan motor if defective. If the board is not sending power, replace the main control board.
