Possible Causes

Burned-out condenser fan motor, Fan blade obstructed by dust or debris, Loose or corroded fan connector, Main PCB fan driver failure

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Unplug the unit before working at the rear. The compressor and condenser can be hot; allow them to cool.

Steps:

  • 1. Access rear compartment: Pull the wine cooler away from the wall and remove the lower rear access panel to expose the condenser fan and compressor.
  • 2. Inspect fan area: Check for heavy dust buildup, plastic wrap, or other debris blocking the fan blade. Clean thoroughly with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • 3. Spin the fan: Rotate the blade by hand. It should move freely. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
  • 4. Check wiring: Ensure the fan motor connector is fully seated on the harness and free of corrosion.
  • 5. Test motor resistance: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
  • 6. Replace condenser fan motor: Order the correct LG condenser fan motor assembly. Remove mounting screws, swap the motor, transfer the blade if separate, and reconnect wiring.
  • 7. PCB check: If a known-good motor does not run and E8 persists, the main control board may not be supplying power. Replace the PCB if wiring is intact.

Tip: Keeping the condenser area clean improves cooling efficiency and extends compressor life.
