Possible Causes
Condenser fan motor failure, Fan tachometer feedback wire open, Blocked fan blade, Faulty fan driver on PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit and allow hot components to cool before working at the rear.
Steps:
- 1. Access condenser fan: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the condenser fan assembly.
- 2. Clean and inspect: Remove dust and debris from the fan and condenser coils. Ensure the blade is not rubbing on the shroud.
- 3. Check wiring: Verify that all fan motor wires, including any feedback/tach wires, are intact and firmly connected to the harness and PCB.
- 4. Test motor: With power disconnected, measure resistance across the motor leads. Replace the motor if open or shorted.
- 5. Replace fan or PCB: If the motor is good but Er CF persists, the control board may not be reading the fan feedback correctly. Replace the condenser fan motor first, then the main PCB if needed.
