Possible Causes

Compressor not running, Refrigerant leak in sealed system, Condenser fan failure, Door left open or gasket leak

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before removing panels. Do not attempt to open sealed refrigerant lines.

Immediate actions:

  • 1. Check door and gasket: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket is not torn or warped. Correct any obstructions and clean the gasket.
  • 2. Verify power and controls: Confirm the unit is plugged in, the outlet works, and the temperature setting is not in demo or standby mode.
  • 3. Listen for compressor and fans: With power on, listen at the back for compressor hum and condenser fan operation. Inside, listen for the evaporator fan.
  • 4. Clean condenser: If the condenser coils are clogged with dust, unplug the unit and clean them with a brush and vacuum. Restore power and monitor.
  • 5. Check for frost pattern: If accessible, remove the interior rear panel and inspect the evaporator. A partial frost pattern or no frost at all can indicate a sealed system issue.
  • 6. Reset alarm: Many LG wine coolers allow you to silence the high-temp alarm by pressing and holding a button (check user manual). If temperature does not drop after several hours, further service is needed.

When to call a technician: If the compressor is running but cooling is poor, or if there is an oily residue on tubing (sign of refrigerant leak), contact a licensed refrigeration technician.
