Possible Causes

Stuck relay on main control board, Shorted temperature sensor, Thermostat calibration error, Control board firmware fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing the control board or sensors.

Steps:

  • 1. Verify set temperature: Confirm the setpoint is appropriate for wine storage (typically 5–18°C / 41–64°F). Adjust if accidentally set too low.
  • 2. Power reset: Unplug for 5–10 minutes, then plug back in. If the unit immediately begins overcooling again, suspect control or sensor issues.
  • 3. Check cabinet thermistor: Access the interior temperature sensor and test its resistance. A shorted sensor can cause the board to think the cabinet is warm, driving continuous cooling.
  • 4. Inspect control board: Look for signs of a stuck compressor relay (burn marks, welded contacts). If the compressor runs constantly regardless of setpoint, the relay may be stuck closed.
  • 5. Replace faulty parts: Replace the cabinet thermistor if readings are abnormal. If the sensor is good but the compressor never cycles off, replace the main control board.
  • 6. Protect wine: Until repaired, move valuable bottles to a stable environment to avoid freezing or label damage.
