Possible Causes

Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Misaligned drain pan, Excessive door openings causing condensation

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside. Use towels to catch water.

Steps:

  • 1. Locate drain: Inside the cabinet, find the small drain hole at the rear bottom or under the evaporator cover.
  • 2. Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner or plastic straw to gently clear debris from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
  • 3. Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush the drain with warm (not boiling) water to melt any ice and push debris through to the drain pan.
  • 4. Check external drain tube: At the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the condensate pan. Ensure it is not kinked or blocked.
  • 5. Verify drain pan position: Make sure the drain pan is properly seated under the tube and not cracked.
  • 6. Reduce condensation: Avoid frequent or prolonged door openings, and ensure the door gasket seals properly.
