Possible Causes
Warped or torn door gasket, Misaligned door hinges, Cabinet not level, Obstruction from shelves or bottles
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit if you will be removing the door or hinges.
Steps:
- Check for obstructions: Ensure shelves and bottles are not protruding and hitting the door. Rearrange as needed.
- Level the cabinet: Adjust the front leveling legs so the cooler is slightly tilted back; this helps the door close and stay shut.
- Inspect gasket: Look for tears, hardened sections, or areas where the gasket does not contact the frame. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry.
- Warm and reshape gasket: Use a hair dryer on low heat to gently warm warped sections of the gasket, then press them into place against the frame until they cool.
- Adjust hinges: Loosen hinge screws slightly and adjust the door position up/down or in/out, then retighten. Ensure the door is square with the cabinet.
- Replace gasket: If the gasket is damaged or will not seal, remove the old gasket (usually pressed into a channel) and install a new Magic Chef door gasket for your model.
