Display shows E3 and temperature cannot be adjusted or is inaccurate.

Safety: Disconnect power before removing control panel or top cover.

Procedure:

• Identify ambient sensor: On many Magic Chef wine coolers, the ambient sensor is located near the front control panel or air intake grille, sensing room temperature for more accurate control.
• Remove control panel bezel: Carefully pry off or unscrew the front control panel trim. Do not pull hard on the wiring.
• Locate the small sensor: Look for a small plastic probe or bead-type sensor with two thin wires leading to the main board.
• Inspect and reseat: Check for broken wires, crushed insulation, or corrosion at the connector. Unplug and replug the connector to clean the contacts.
• Test with multimeter: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values (similar to cabinet thermistor). If reading is open or shorted, the sensor is bad.
• Replace ambient sensor: Install a new ambient thermistor compatible with your Magic Chef model. Route wires away from sharp edges and secure with tape or clips.
• Control board replacement: If the sensor tests good and wiring is intact but E3 remains, replace the main control board.

Tip: Ensure the cooler is not installed in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as this can confuse temperature readings even with a good sensor.
