Possible Causes

Loose harness between display PCB and main control board, Corroded or oxidized connectors, Damaged ribbon cable, Failed display PCB or main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing any control panels.

Steps:

  • Access control boards: Remove the top or front trim to access the display/control panel. Remove the rear service panel to access the main control board.
  • Inspect wiring harness: Locate the multi-wire harness or ribbon cable connecting the display board to the main board. Check for pinched, cut, or melted sections.
  • Reseat connectors: Unplug each connector one at a time and firmly reconnect. Look for bent pins or corrosion. Clean lightly with electronic contact cleaner if needed (unit unplugged and fully dry before re-powering).
  • Check for moisture: Condensation or spills near the control panel can cause intermittent communication errors. Dry the area thoroughly and ensure the door gasket is sealing properly to reduce moisture.
  • Board substitution: If wiring is intact and E6 persists, one of the boards is likely defective. In most cases, replace the main control board first. If the problem remains, replace the display/control PCB.

Note: Handle circuit boards by the edges and avoid static discharge by touching a grounded metal object before handling.
