Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Obstructed fan blades by ice or wiring, Loose fan connector, Faulty control board fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler. Fan blades and evaporator fins are sharp.
Steps:
- Access interior fan: Remove shelves and the interior rear panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Inspect for obstructions: Check for ice buildup around the fan, loose wires, or insulation blocking the blades. Clear any obstructions carefully.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan by hand. It should rotate freely without grinding or sticking. If it is stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad.
- Check wiring: Follow the fan wires to the connector. Ensure it is fully seated and not corroded or burnt.
- Test fan motor: With the unit unplugged, you can measure resistance across the fan motor leads. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. (Do not apply direct mains voltage unless you are trained and the fan is rated for it.)
- Replace evaporator fan motor: Remove mounting screws, transfer any brackets or grommets to the new motor, and reinstall. Ensure blades are correctly oriented and not rubbing on the shroud.
- Control board: If a known-good fan does not run and E7 persists, the main control board's fan output may be defective and require replacement.
