Possible Causes
Clogged condensate drain hole, Disconnected or kinked drain tube, Excess humidity and frequent door openings, Cracked drain pan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside. Mop up standing water to prevent slipping.
Steps:
- Locate drain hole: Inside the cabinet, look for a small drain hole or channel at the rear bottom or under the evaporator cover.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner, cotton swab, or flexible plastic strip to gently clear any debris or mold from the drain hole. Do not use metal objects that can puncture the liner.
- Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush a small amount of warm water through the drain to ensure it flows freely to the rear drain pan.
- Inspect rear drain pan and tube: Remove the rear panel and verify the drain tube is properly connected from the cabinet to the drain pan above the compressor. Straighten any kinks and reseat loose connections.
- Check for cracks: Inspect the plastic drain pan for cracks or warping. Replace if damaged.
- Reduce humidity load: Minimize door openings and ensure the door gasket seals well to reduce condensation.
