Possible Causes
Out-of-range thermistor readings, Incorrect sensor installed, Control board calibration fault, Loose sensor connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before unplugging or replacing sensors.
- 1. Confirm actual temperature: Place an accurate refrigerator thermometer inside the cooler and compare to the displayed temperature after several hours of stable operation.
- 2. Inspect all thermistors: Access the cabinet, evaporator, and ambient sensors. Ensure each is properly mounted and connected. Look for mismatched or non-OEM sensors that may have been installed previously.
- 3. Test sensor resistances: With the unit unplugged, disconnect each thermistor and measure resistance. Compare to the manufacturer’s NTC chart. Replace any sensor that is significantly out of range.
- 4. Check connectors: Reseat all sensor connectors at the control board. Clean any corrosion with contact cleaner.
- 5. Control board replacement: If all sensors test correctly and wiring is intact, the control board’s calibration or ADC (analog-to-digital converter) may be faulty. Replace the main control board.
- 6. Verify operation: After reassembly, allow the cooler to run for several hours and confirm that the displayed temperature matches the thermometer and that E9 does not return.
