Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, Dirty condenser coils, Failing condenser fan motor, Overcharged or undercharged sealed system causing overheating
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before cleaning coils or working near the compressor. The compressor and lines may be hot.
- 1. Check installation clearance: Ensure there is adequate space around the cooler for ventilation, especially at the rear and sides.
- 2. Clean condenser coils: Remove the rear lower panel and use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser coils.
- 3. Verify condenser fan operation: With the unit powered, confirm that the condenser fan runs whenever the compressor is on. If not, unplug the unit, test the fan motor for continuity, and replace if defective.
- 4. Allow cooling: If the compressor has overheated, leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to allow it to cool before restarting.
- 5. Sealed system check: If F2 recurs despite good airflow and a working fan, a sealed system issue may be causing excessive compressor load. Contact a licensed technician to evaluate refrigerant charge and system pressures.
