Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Failed compressor, Refrigerant leak in sealed system, Evaporator fan not running
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing panels. Do not attempt sealed system repairs without proper certification and tools.
- 1. Check door and gasket: Ensure the door is fully closing and the gasket is intact and clean. Look for gaps or warped areas. Adjust door hinges or replace the gasket if needed.
- 2. Verify airflow: Confirm that the evaporator fan runs when the compressor is on. If not, see fan-related diagnostics. Make sure interior vents are not blocked by bottles.
- 3. Inspect condenser: Pull the unit away from the wall and clean the condenser coils with a brush or vacuum. Poor airflow can cause high temperatures.
- 4. Check compressor operation: Listen and feel for the compressor running. If it is hot and not running, investigate the start relay and overload. If it runs continuously but cooling is poor, a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak or restriction) is likely.
- 5. Allow recovery time: After correcting airflow or door issues, allow 12–24 hours for the temperature to return to normal. The H1 alarm should clear automatically once temperature is within range.
- 6. Call a technician for sealed system issues: If the compressor runs but the unit does not cool, contact a licensed refrigeration technician to check refrigerant charge and sealed system components.
