Possible Causes
Failed defrost heater, Defrost thermistor out of range, Defrost control failure on main board, Door gasket leak or frequent door openings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before defrosting or testing components.
- 1. Manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the cooler, open the door, and allow all ice to melt. Place towels to catch water. Do not use sharp tools to chip ice.
- 2. Test defrost heater: Access the evaporator and heater, disconnect one lead, and measure resistance. Replace if open.
- 3. Check defrost thermistor: Test resistance and replace if out of spec.
- 4. Inspect door gasket: Repair or replace if it is not sealing properly.
- 5. Replace control board: If heater and sensor are good but defrost never initiates, replace the main control board.
