Possible Causes

Defective cabinet temperature sensor (NTC), Broken or loose NTC wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on main control board, Failed main control board sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler or switch off the circuit breaker before removing any panels. Do not work on live electrical parts.

This fault usually indicates a problem with the main cabinet temperature sensor (NTC) used by Miele to regulate the wine compartment temperature.

  • 1. Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then restore power. If F1 immediately reappears, continue with checks.
  • 2. Inspect the cabinet sensor:
    • Locate the temperature sensor inside the wine compartment (often behind a small plastic cover on the rear or side wall).
    • Remove the cover carefully and visually inspect the sensor and wiring for damage, cuts, or moisture.
  • 3. Check wiring and connectors:
    • Trace the sensor wires to where they exit the cabinet and connect to the main control board (usually behind the lower front grille or rear service panel).
    • With power still disconnected, unplug and re-seat the sensor connector on the control board.
    • Look for corrosion, bent pins, or broken conductors.
  • 4. Test the sensor (if you have a multimeter):
    • Disconnect the sensor from the board.
    • Measure resistance across the sensor leads. A typical Miele NTC will show several kΩ at room temperature (e.g., 5–15 kΩ). An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
  • 5. Replace the sensor if faulty:
    • Order a compatible Miele cabinet temperature sensor (NTC) using your model number.
    • Install the new sensor in the same location and route the wiring exactly as original to avoid pinching or contact with cold surfaces.
  • 6. If sensor and wiring are good: The main control board’s sensor input may be defective. At this point, replacement of the electronic control module is recommended and is best done by a qualified technician.
