Possible Causes
Shorted or open NTC sensor, Incorrect sensor type fitted, Control board ADC failure, Wiring short to chassis
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before testing sensors or wiring.
F16 indicates that a temperature reading is outside the valid range expected by the control.
- 1. Identify which sensor is affected:
- Compare displayed temperatures for each zone and ambient; the one showing extreme values is suspect.
- 2. Test the suspect sensor:
- Access the sensor (cabinet, zone, or evaporator) and disconnect it.
- Measure resistance at room temperature; if it reads near 0 Ω or OL, the sensor is faulty.
- 3. Inspect wiring:
- Look for pinched or rubbed-through insulation causing shorts to the cabinet.
- 4. Replace with correct sensor:
- Use only the Miele-specified NTC sensor for your model; mixing sensor types can cause F16.
- 5. If all sensors test correctly: The analog-to-digital converter on the main board may be defective; board replacement is required and should be done by a technician.
