Possible Causes

Defective magnetic door contact switch, Misaligned door or door switch magnet, Broken wiring between door switch and control board, Faulty input on main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing trims or panels around the door frame.

F7 indicates the control is not receiving a valid signal from the door contact system.

  • 1. Check door operation:
    • Open and close the door while watching the interior light and display. If they do not change state, suspect the door switch.
  • 2. Locate the door contact:
    • Miele wine coolers often use a magnetic reed switch in the cabinet frame and a magnet in the door.
    • Identify the switch location (usually along the top or side frame) and the corresponding magnet in the door gasket area.
  • 3. Inspect alignment:
    • Ensure the door closes fully and the magnet aligns with the switch area.
    • Adjust door hinges if the door is sagging or not sealing properly.
  • 4. Test the switch:
    • With power off, remove the trim to access the reed switch.
    • Disconnect the switch and test continuity with a magnet applied and removed. It should open and close reliably.
  • 5. Replace faulty components:
    • If the reed switch does not change state, replace it with the correct Miele door contact switch.
    • If the magnet is missing or cracked, replace the door magnet insert.
  • 6. Wiring and board:
    • Check wiring from the switch to the control board for breaks.
    • If wiring and switch are good but F7 persists, the main control board input may be defective and should be replaced by a technician.
