Possible Causes
Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Overheated compressor due to dirty condenser, Faulty condenser temperature sensor or high-pressure switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the appliance before cleaning or accessing the rear compartment. The condenser and compressor can be hot.
F8 is often related to overheating in the condenser area or a high-pressure condition.
- 1. Check installation and ventilation:
- Ensure the wine cooler has the required ventilation clearances specified by Miele.
- Verify that front and rear ventilation grilles are not blocked by cabinetry or objects.
- 2. Clean the condenser:
- Remove the lower front grille or rear panel to access the condenser coil.
- Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser fins.
- 3. Inspect condenser fan:
- Locate the condenser fan near the compressor.
- Check that the blades spin freely and are not obstructed.
- If the fan does not run when the compressor should be on (after restoring power), suspect a failed fan motor.
- 4. Check condenser sensor or high-pressure device:
- Some Miele models use a condenser temperature sensor or high-pressure switch.
- Inspect wiring and connectors for damage.
- 5. Replace faulty parts:
- If the condenser fan motor is seized or open-circuit, replace it with the correct Miele fan motor.
- If the condenser sensor is defective (open/short), replace it with the specified Miele sensor.
- 6. Reset and test:
- After cleaning and repairs, unplug the unit for 10 minutes to reset the control.
- Restore power and monitor operation. If F8 returns quickly, a sealed-system or control board issue may exist and requires a professional technician.
