Possible Causes

Failed condenser fan motor, Blocked condenser fan blades, Loose or burnt fan connector, Faulty main control board fan output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power and pull the unit away from the wall before servicing the rear compartment.

  • Access condenser fan: Remove the lower rear access panel. Locate the condenser fan near the compressor and condenser coil.
  • Clean and inspect: Vacuum dust and debris from the condenser coil and fan area. Ensure the fan blades are not obstructed by wiring, insulation, or debris.
  • Spin test: Rotate the fan blades by hand. They should spin freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the motor is likely failing.
  • Check wiring: Inspect the fan harness and connector for heat damage or loose pins. Reseat the connector at both the fan and the control board.
  • Test voltage: If qualified, restore power and measure voltage at the fan connector when the compressor is running. If proper voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the condenser fan motor.
  • Control board diagnosis: If no voltage is present at the fan connector and wiring is intact, the main control board may have a failed fan driver and should be replaced.

Proper condenser airflow is critical; after repair, verify that the fan runs whenever the compressor is on and that the rear compartment does not overheat.
