Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Misaligned drain pan, Excessive door openings causing condensation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside. Water and electricity are a dangerous combination.
- Locate drain: Inside the cabinet, find the small drain hole or channel at the rear, below the evaporator cover.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft pipe cleaner, flexible brush, or plastic zip tie to gently clear debris from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain to melt any ice and push debris into the drain pan.
- Check drain pan: From the rear, inspect the drain tube and pan above the compressor. Ensure the tube is properly seated in the pan and not kinked.
- Reduce humidity load: Limit door openings and ensure the door gasket seals well to reduce condensation.
After clearing, monitor for several days to confirm that water no longer accumulates.
