Possible Causes
Misaligned door not activating switch, Failed door switch stuck in open position, Magnet missing from door (for reed switch models), Faulty main control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before adjusting switches or wiring.
- Check door alignment: Ensure the door closes fully and evenly. Adjust hinges if the door is sagging and not contacting the switch area.
- Inspect magnet/switch: For magnetic reed switches, verify the magnet is still embedded in the door frame and aligned with the switch in the cabinet. Replace missing magnets or misaligned trim.
- Test switch: Access the switch and test continuity while actuating it. Replace the switch if it does not change state.
- Control board: If the switch tests good and wiring is intact but the light remains on, the main control board may be misinterpreting the door signal and should be replaced.
- Temporary workaround: As a short-term measure, you can remove the light bulb or disconnect the LED module to prevent heating, but this should not replace proper repair.
After repair, confirm the light turns off reliably when the door is closed.
