Possible Causes
Failed humidity sensor (if equipped), Loose sensor harness, Internal I2C/serial communication fault on PCB, Corrupted control board firmware
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the appliance from mains before opening any control housing.
- Power cycle: Unplug the unit for 10–15 minutes to reset the control electronics. If E8 clears and returns, a sensor or board issue is likely.
- Identify humidity sensor: On some Montpellier dual-zone wine coolers, a small sensor module is mounted near the top of the cabinet or behind the control panel with a vented cover.
- Inspect and reseat: Remove the cover and reseat the sensor connector. Check for moisture ingress or corrosion on the sensor board.
- Replace sensor module: If available as a separate part, install a new Montpellier humidity sensor module and test operation.
- Board-level issues: If no external sensor is present or replacement does not help, E8 may indicate an internal communication fault on the main PCB. In this case, replacement of the control board is usually required and should be done by a qualified technician.
