Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Damaged touch control panel, Oxidized connectors, Faulty main PCB communication driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before removing the control panel or top trim.
- Access control panel: On Montpellier wine coolers, the control panel is usually at the top front. Remove the decorative trim and screws to gently pull the panel forward.
- Check ribbon cable: Inspect the flat ribbon or multi-core cable connecting the display to the main PCB. Ensure it is fully inserted and not kinked or damaged.
- Clean connectors: Use a dry, lint-free cloth or contact cleaner (applied to the cloth, not directly to the board) to clean the connector contacts. Reseat firmly.
- Inspect for moisture: Look for signs of condensation or liquid ingress on the control board. If present, allow to dry completely and address any door seal or environment issues causing condensation.
- Test operation: Reassemble, restore power, and check if E9 clears and buttons respond.
- Replace faulty module: If the error persists, either the touch control panel or the main PCB is defective. Replace the control panel first (usually easier and cheaper). If still unresolved, the main PCB will likely need replacement by a technician.
